Ronson Chan on bail
HKJA chairman Ronson Chan has been let off on bail with no travel restrictions. Chan pleaded not guilty to his charges of obstructing a police officer while covering a homeowner’s association meeting in Mong Kok. He maintains that he simply wanted the plainclothed officers to identify themselves before he showed his ID. If convicted, Chan faces two years in prison.
Chan was supposed to travel to Oxford in two weeks for a Reuters Fellowship - something that having travel restrictions makes difficult. As part of his terms, Chan will have to update the police on his address and phone number in the UK.

CHP Chief Dr. Albert Au said yesterday that "It's pretty obvious now that the peak is really over, and the Covid situation is trending down”. He said that non-emergency services in public hospitals will be restarting.
Doctors arrested for selling vax exemptions certs
76-year-old doctor, Tai Kong-Shing and his three clinical assistants have been arrested for selling vaccine exemptions from their clinic in Mong Kok. The exemption certificats can be uploaded onto LeaveHomeSafe, allowing individuals to bypass the mandatory vaccine pass.
Tai charged between $4000-5000 for certificates and it is thought he earned close to $10mil with over 2000 certificates sold. The doctor did not hold any consultations with patients before selling.
He is not only doctor to be arrested for selling illeligible passes; on 5th Sept, 64 year old Dr. Annie Choi Suk-Mui, was arrested for selling certificates at $500 a pop. It is thought she earned around $3mil from the operation.

Huang Guanghui, founder and director of Crostini, was arrested by Customs under suspicion of taking payment without intending to supply the purchased product.
In this case, Crostini owes customers 5300 coupons worth of cakes, or around $270,000 - A little difficult considering they closed all outlets without warning on 13 Sept. Customs has been investigating after those who bought the coupons complained to authorities. The largest loser bought 104 coupons worth $17,500. Coupons had been available for purchase as close to half a month before the sudden closure.
Lui Ngai-Kuen, deputy head of Customs, said that if any Crostini staff member had known about the closure in advance, Huang could be sentenced to a maximum of 5 years in prison and a fine of $500,000.

Mission Impossible but low budget
A video sent around social media yesterday showed a woman climbing down the side of a Tsim Sha Tsui building. After a slow descent onto a signpost, she was helped down by bystanders.
It was later found that she was a transgender woman with a Thai passport. It is thought she escaped from a brothel inside the building when police performed an anti-prostitution sting operation which saw the arrest of 14 men and 18 women. The 30 year old wall climber has been sent to Queen Elizabeth Hospital for treatment.
Prostitution is legal in Hong Kong, but organised prostitution is not. The law also prohibits multiple prostitutes from working in the same premises. Just last week, 31 Thai citizens, including 8 transgender women, were arrested in Wanchai in a similar operation.
