Good morning.

I am now a walking definition of sod’s law. My laptop stopped working after I got caught in the rain; gov paperwork for a new side hustle has been delayed which means I have stock sitting in my flat I can’t move (more on that when it’s….official) and I caught a bad cold that’s been gong around Birmingham.

AND I’m flying on Friday.

Monkeypox Patient Zero

Hong Kong's first monkeypox patient has been identified as a 30 year old man who recently flew back from the Philippines after spending time in the US and Canada.

He developed rashes on 30 Aug, swollen lymph nodes on 2 Sept and a sore throat when he arrived in Hong Kong on 5 Sept on flight PR300. Dr. Chuang said that based on the onset of his symptoms, he likely caught the virus in America.

The CHP has raised Hong Kong’s response to Monkeypox to ‘Alert’ level.

Monkeypox is not only spread through sex, it can also be spread through contact with contaminated materials, bodily fluids and even raspatory droplets. The video below explains it well:

For the love of God don’t sell vaccine exemptions, what are you thinking

A 64 year old doctor has been arrested for dolling out vaccine exemptions without medical consultations. The doctor, which has his practice in Yuen Long, allegedly gave out more than 6000 exemptions at $500 a pop. The operator of the clinic has also been arrested.

A fight over using LeaveHomeSafe to enter St. Joseph’s Church caused a fight that ended up with a volunteer having bleach thrown at her.

Two Filipino women, one a 30 year old parishioner, the other a 52 year old volunteer at the church had a heated debate over LeaveHomeSafe. After the fight, the 30 year old left but returned shortly after with bleach and splashed the volunteer. She is now being treated for chemical burns at the hospital and the police are hunting for the assaulter.

SEN students suffer from online classes

In a new study on the impacts of online and other learning disruptions due to COVID, 58.4% of SEN students said they found it difficult to concentrate. 70% of teachers said the gap between SEN and ‘normal’ students increased during COVID. An additional 20.5% of SEN students said they felt depressed.

“More resources needed to be provided to SEN students,” said Derren Lam Wai-Yip, deputy convenor of Youth I.D.E.A.S, which ran the study.

Another charity, Treats HK, said that SEN students were particularly affected by social distancing measures as irregular schedules and frequent changes could confused autistic individuals.
