Good morning,
And it is the time to enjoy some great food, now more than ever. I’ve been getting into the trend of quarantine baking a bit later than most (April 2020-ish). While I haven’t mastered the art of croissant-making yet, here’s the *Gordon Ramsay voice* beautiful, absolutely delicious chocolate chip cookie recipe I’ve been following for the past couple weeks. Super simple, and even if you mess up, it’s pretty much sugar and chocolate (what’s not to like?) You deserve a treat :)

$5000 consumption vouchers coming soon
They’re finally here … The consumption vouchers will be available to claim from 7 Apr. More than 6.3 million HKers will soon receive the first half of the promised HK$5000, which will have an effective period of 7 months until October 31 to be used.
Finance Chief Paul Chan revealed that the government was ready to send out this first batch after those eligible had been confirmed as active on their previous accounts or renewed their registrations.
Those using WeChat Pay HK, Alipay HK, or Tap & Go will receive their payment in one $5000 installment. For Octopus users (never fear), the voucher will be doled out in one $4000 and one $1000 payments. The latter is currently planned to be distributed from June 16 onwards.
Cash rebates, coupons, redemptions, and more!
And of course, who else can we count on to spring upon this opportunity, if not Sino Group and Sing Hung Kai Properties?
Other conglomerates also took advantage of the consumption vouchers to launch different promotional schemes at their various shopping centres; all to combat the 14.6% cliff-drop of retail sales from the 5th wave.
Carrie Lam advises not to spend the vouchers in a rush - also note that they can’t be used for personal transactions/public services/utilities/fines.
You may do with this information what you will, dear reader.

Chinese medicine spotlighted in combating COVID
Traditional Chinese medicine (TCM), with all its 2000+ years of history, has recently been relaunched as part of the mainstream government effort to combat COVID-19.
Some is already included in the anti-pandemic kits distributed citywide; Tong Xiaolin and his delegation of seven merry TCM specialists advocated for its wider use after a recent visit to HK, which contributed towards the remarks on Sunday.
Carrie Lam reported that the delay in popularizing the usage of TCM was due to the prevalence of Western medicine, as well as “obstacles in the law and system [that] need to be solved.”
No. 2 for 2022?
HK’s No. 2 official, Chief Secretary John Lee, is said to be winding up for his shot at Chief Executive in the upcoming May 8 election.
Multiple pro-establishment sources claimed that “important announcements” would be made on Monday or Tuesday, for which, given the lack of any candidates coming forward officially since the two-week nomination period began on Sunday, I’m sure we will all wait with bated breath.
These sources claimed “Lee has been forming his team [to run for office]” and promoted his 5-year stint as head of the Security Bureau as a reason he’d do well.
