All the news from the woman who does everything
The highly anticipated United Nations Climate Change Conference, Cop26, took place last year from 31 Oct to 12 Nov. Since then, given Russia's invasion of Ukraine, the global situation has drastically changed (not only in a political sense, but also in the terms of environmental impact).
Half a year past Cop26, the president of Cop26, Alok Sharma, urges countries to pick up the pace and increase determination to honour the Glasgow climate pact. The response of governments and the policies they implement in the coming months will determine the global environmental outlook.
The results of the 17th Filipino election, which took place on Monday, May 9, 2022. As of May 25, Ferdinand Marcos Jr. "Bongbong" was declared winner and the incoming president of the Philippines by Filipino congress. Bongbong is the son of Ferdinand Marcos, dicatator former President of the Philippines. Marcos is still assembling his cabinet, which will need to navigate high inflation, government debt and a tricky foreign policy balance with ally the United States and China.
Due to the Taliban seizing control of Afghanistan, families have been separated. Under the Taliban's rule, there is an increased threat to professional or academic women.
Consequently, many have fled, including Nargis Orakzai, immigrated to Germany. By doing so, she leaves behind family members, her mother Neigna include. Neigna is among the thousands of Afghan women who lost their job and income when the Taliban took over. The mother and daughter pair are devastated by their separation, and hope for each other's wellbeing. This is unfortunately the reality for many families divided due to the Taliban's rule.
