Anyways, because yesterday was a relatively healthy recipe, today we're leaning back into the dessert-sweet-treat groove. We’re heading into soufflé territory with these Japanese cloud-like pancakes that are literally 90% air. Even if you don’t have an electric mixer, you’ll get a workout for your arms if you take it on with your bare hands. Good luck with separating those egg yolks :) if all else fails, just call it a day and make yourself some scrambled eggs.

Mass blackout in Yuen Long
Around 7pm on Tuesday night, a fire sparked from high-voltage power cables in Yuen Long. From the power outages that were subsequently triggered, 20,000 households will be left without power for 2 days. Railway operations were temporarily suspended, and in 3 districts, hospital services were disrupted as well.
The cable bridge ablaze shown in the image above was on Kwong Yip Street, near The Spectra residential estate. People reported hearing multiple explosions in the area and the bridge later collapsed, though no casualties were reported.
140,000 households got their power back after just a few hours from CLP Power, who have apologized for affecting customers with this incident, and who said they were conducting repairs while prioritizing power supply for emergency services.

Travel to South Korea
From July 1 onwards, HK residents and BNO passport holders will be able to resume visa-free travel to South Korea. A 7-day compulsory quarantine is still required upon arrival. Also, passengers still need to apply for the Korea Electronic Travel Authorisation (K-ETA) and get approval at least 72 hours before boarding any flights.
Ice cream pesticides
That’s right, now ice cream isn’t just an unfortunate food article for the lactose-intolerant. On Tuesday, the Centre for Food Safety stopped two types of Häagen-Dazs vanilla ice cream products from being sold. This came a day after food authorities in Taiwan discovered ethylene oxide, a pesticide banned by the EU, in the two products which also had shipments to HK.
Häagen-Dazs HK has since apologized for the incident. The two products in question were the pint-sized and bulk-sized vanilla ice cream with expiration dates of 13 Apr, 2023 and 26 Oct, 2022. Those shouldn’t be available in stores anymore due to sales being stopped and product recalls, but please don’t eat either of these specific products, as the CFC strongly urges.
WHERE’S OUR JUMBO UPDATE?
Following on from yesterday’s devastating news, many appear to think that the sinking of everyone’s favorite floating restaurant seems a little trippy.
HK maritime authorities now want a report from JUMBO’s owner on the circumstances surrounding its sinking, revealing that it did have permission to be transported to Cambodia before sinking in the South China Sea.
The Maritime Department said on Tuesday it wasn’t informed of the sinking before the company announced it on Monday, but confirmed that it had given permission for the vessel’s departure on June 14. Human error is now part of the conspiracy theories surrounding this incident- feel free to add your takes…
A maritime expert estimates that salvaging the wreckage is still possible but would cost HK$10 million at the minimum. Anyone wanna chip in?

Be 40 is a collection celebrating the 40th anniversary of Hong Kong’s Fringe Club, which has announced that it is extending the exhibition to 30 June! Featured works include art belonging to the club from 1982 until the present, along with the art of Frog King who has had their work shown at the 2011 Venice Biennale.
