Hey High Tide!
My name is Eli Zaelo. I am multilingual singer from Pretoria, South Africa. I sing C-Pop, Western pop and Afropop music. I also enjoy dancing and I’ve been fortunate enough to be in a movie or 2 ...or 8! So basically I’ve been bitten hard by the entertainment bug and I’d consider myself to be a triple threat.
I also enjoy swimming. I live for a good beach day!
I’m passionate about various things but here are 3 that I can think of right now:
Multiculturalism and Cultural Exchange
I’m passionate about multiculturalism and the beautiful exchange of cultures in an authentic, respectful and informative way.
This article by Liz Jackson from University of Hong Kong is a good look into how Hong Kong’s education system could embrace more of Hong Kong’s many cultures.
Support Refugees
I’m also a supporter of the Refugee program at The Vine church “Branches of hope” as it has done so many wonderful things for the community. Find out more here.
Go-getters
I’m inspired by go-getters who consistently work on their craft and attain great results. A great example if this would be Simone Biles who’s competing at the Olympics right now.
Shout out to all the great African businesses and organisations in Hong Kong
Own Your Beauty
A local instagram group to celebrate women’s beauty no matter race of colour.
Tidi Consulting
A PR firm founded and run by a South African that aims for aocial innovation through strategic brand enhancement.
The largest African cultural organisation in Hong Kong. Aside from talks and seinars on African culture, they’re currently running many lunch and dinner meetups on Saturdays, so don’t miss out!
