Good morning,
Someone actually shared after I asked yesterday!
That makes me really happy because it helps grow the HT community (and the more we grow, the more I can leverage for partnerships and discounts đ).
Elevation Ltd (which Jasmine and I set up to hold Harbour Times) is actually registered as a âBy Guaranteeâ company, the HK version of a non-profit. Everything that we earn has to go back into improving our services towards our goal and our readers.
So itâs in your benefit as HT readers to share aggressively and really make High Tide the most read most readable newsletter in HK ~

Government mandated casual Fridays!
Today is the first weekly casual dress Friday for all government workers.
There is, as usual, an official purpose for this (you canât just have casual dress for nothing!). In usual Press Release casual language:
The Government announced [âŠ] "Dress Casual Fridays" starting from this week. To encourage and facilitate government employees to take part in more sports and recreational activities during spare time, government employees may dress sporty or casual for work on Fridays.
Ingrid Yeung, Civil Service Secretary said this in a very casual manner:
"We strongly encourage government employees to take part in sports and physical activities during spare time so as to upkeep their physical and mental health and to maintain work life balanceâ
The measure does not apply to uniformed services.
So there you have it. Go to work in a tracksuit, make sure to âtake part in more sportsâ - maybe by jogging in the tracksuit to work!
And an album recommendation
If you work for the civil service, weâd love to see what you decided to casually dress as - take selfies and tag @harbourtimes

COVID, Monkeypox and Malaria (oh my)
Hong Kong logged 30 cases of Malaria last month, after a group of workers for a Mainland company working in Equitorial Guinea returned to China via Hong Kong. They were found positive for Malaria during quarantine. One 52-year old patient developed complications and passed away while in quarantine; four others have been moved to intensive care.
Hotel quarantine reduction incoming
The government said they are very close to releasing details of quarantine reduction. Sources say decisions are likely to come in the next week, if not earlier.
Updates on previous stories:
Prince Edward Childrenâs Home
An additional two, Cheung Wai-Yin, 30, and Lee Pui-Ching, 32, have pleaded guilty to child abuse while working at the Prince Edward foster home.
Cheung admitted to slapping and shoving two boys that were under her care; Lee similarly slapped one girl several times. Both crimes took place between November and December of last year.
A third defendent Chan Oi-Ying pleaded not guilty and will return to court at a later date to argue her case.
We recommend our report on the case if you need a refresher.
270,000 expected to report PTSD after MIRROR accident
A survery by the Post Crisis Counseling network expects around 270,000 people to develop PTSD of some sort after the MIRROR accident. The council says that at present, around 100 people are diagnosed, but considering that the concert had 12,500 in attendance (and many more saw the videos online), it is expected that far more will be disagnosed in the future.
Meanwhile, Keung To, core member of MIRROR and group manager âSister Faiâ have denied rumours that the band will split.
