Anyway, what I’m trying to say is….that Jasmine is in hospital and I’m covering while she recovers.

Jumbo - I’ll sink myself, thank you very much
Just a day after Melco International officially announced that famed Jumbo floating restaurant would not be reopening - a new owner to operate the kitchen could not be found despite collaboration with Ocean Park - the kitchen literally started sinking.
A suspected hull breach happened late on Tuesday evening, and on Wednesday morning, the kitchen barge at the back of the boat had capsized and started descending into Aberdeen harbour.
No reason for the breach has been found yet.

Home Quarantine? Less likely than you think
Despite CE Carrie Lam stating in April that home quarantine is here to stay, home quarantine….was not in fact here to stay… or at least, not if you have newly dropped Omicrons. Dr Edwin Tsui, controller of the CHP, confirmed in a press release yesterday that those with the new Omicron strains (BA.2.12. and other variations), and their close contacts will be sent to Penny’s Bay or other isolation facilities even if mild or asymptomatic.
The CHP argued that this is not a U-turn on their policy of allowing home quarantine if patients have adequate space at home. Rather, the press release argues, that there has been no change because … “This is a specific measure taken in respect of those cases in questions based on risk assessment and does not signify a change in the overall quarantine and isolation policy aforementioned”
The statement was released after local media reported Penny’s Bay filling up pretty quickly all of a sudden without notice.

For once the sudden rise in cases hasn’t so much scared the CHP, rather, it’s annoyed them like a teacher gets annoyed at a student pretending they have a stomach ache to skip an exam.
Dr Edwin Tsui, said that many of the so-called positive cases could not be confirmed on follow-up PCR tests, leading to him believing that many were deliberately reporting false positives, possibly from previous infections, in order to get a vaccine exemption. Data showed that in prior months, the false positive rate was around 7% but in recent days, the number has skyrocketed to 38% - the 3rd round of the vaccine pass came out on Tuesday……..
In Memory: Anne Marden
Philanthropist and Social Services volunteer Anne Marden passed away at her home in Shek O yesterday. Marden, 96, was instrumental in developing Hong Kong’s social services, having championed for the rights of marginalised groups such as refugees and of children, especially handicapped children.
She founded multiple charities such as the Rehabaid Society and, along with her husband John Marden of Wheelock Marden and co., opened several vocational schools and their own charity foundation - the Marden foundation. Anne Marden herself was also the director of the Hong Kong Red Cross, and vice patron of the Hong Kong branch of International Social Service, and the honourary president of Playwright.
Marden was originally from Shanghai but lived in the UK during the world wars. There she met her husband and moved to Hong Kong for business purposes. Here, she saw many refugees from the Chinese Civil War and started her philanthropy by helping those on her doorstep.
