Good morning.
Guess what Iâm doing tonight - flying off the DW conference in Cologne (yay). Unfortunately, that means missing out on all the cool events coming up this week (boo). So, read the events section, go in my stead and have a grand old time. Let the Irish CG know we sent you!
Meanwhile, daily reminder to apply for an internship because it would be really great to have someone in HK while Iâm gone.

HK needs more patriotism
At the 120 year celebrations for Beijing aligned paper Ta Kung Po (literally the workerâs paper), both director of Beijing's Liaison Office and Carrie Lam said that Hong Kong needs patriotic media - presumably like the party boy.
Huo argued that Hong Kongâs international demographics makes it even more important to have such media:
âIn a pluralistic society like Hong Kong, we especially need media that love the country and love Hong Kong, that can drain away filth and bring in fresh water, and we need patriotic media people who hold tight to their mission and shoulder their responsibilitiesâ
Luo Hui-Ning
Meanwhile Carrie Lam focused on the national security element of media, arguing that having patriotic media is instrumental for internal security. Media, she said, should actively promote national security and spread the good message in an unbiased way.
So here it is, note down the national security hotline:

Jumbo begins sailing
Floating restaurant Jumbo has begun preparing for its sailing out of HK. Hoarding was seen covering the entrances and windows of the famous restaurant and a spokesperson for Aberdeen Catering Group confirmed that Jumbo will be sailing out of HK waters before its catering license ends mid-June. However, the location will remain undisclosed at the request of the docks.
Anyway, hereâs a thread that shows Jumbo in almost every movie itâs been featured in.
