Good morning,
Probably got more events than news today, and all the news seems to be about COVID. Mainland delegations, border reopenings (maybe), professorial resignations - but all mostly COVID somehow.
Did anyone pop by Sai Kung and see the market today by the way?
Wasn’t just the Island Life guys there but a bunch of other cool local businesses ranging from organic ciders, portable grills and jewerly too! Didn’t buy anything (we’re, as Jasmine jokingly says, the poorest media owners in Hong Kong)

Mainland Experts in HK: Day 2
A group of COVID experts from across the border arrived on Saturday to inspect Hong Kong’s anti-epidemic efforts.
Led by Dr. Chaung Shuk-Kwan and Health Secretary Sophia Chan, the delegation visited a number of international and local sites including the Airport and Centre for Food Safety’s test center at Cathay Pacific Cargo Terminal where frozen food is randomly inspected. They also visited North Lantau Hospital, Penny’s Bay Quarantine Camp, Kai Tak Community Hall (currently used for tracing) and the border crossing at the HK-Zhuhai-Macau Bridge.
Tam Yiu-Chung, Hong Kong’s delegation to the NPC said that the visit was a ‘good sign’ that the Mainland authorities are seriously working towards border opening. He also mentioned that he’s been invited to a meeting in Beijing in December (yay) after getting banned in October when Hong Kong had like…1 untracable case (boo).
Ex-Co member Dr. Lam Ching-Choi also expressed optimism saying that Hong Kong authorities will ‘tell the Mainland’ that our COVID policies work even though they function differently from cross border policies.
COVID news (other than like all the other Covid news)

Coronavirus in Hong Kong
New cases: 2
Discovery Bay Lockdown:
A 23 year old vaccinated returnee from the US has preliminarily tested positive for COVID-19. He left HK on the 13th and returned yesterday.
Note that date: 13th to 21st - that’s only 9 days so it makes sense that the gov is worried he may have developed COVID in HK. However, that means the guy only spent like 7 days in the US but now has to quarantine 21 days. HMMMMMM
Updates COVID and otherwise
Current HKU Dean of Medicine Gabriel Leung steps down from his professorial position. He will join the Jockey Club in July 2022 as the head of charities and community. Leung is a member of the gov’s COVID response team.
Six locally broadcasted channels will change onto a different frequency from 1 Dec. These include:
