Hello,

My name is Sharmaine Kwan and I am an artist from Hong Kong. I use a range of both traditional and digital media in my artwork such as neon lights, painting, new media art, installation art, and sculpturing. I’m interested in urban environments, the city and its culture, as well as the future.

My work has been exhibited worldwide in different locations such as London, Moscow, Portugal, South Korea, Macedonia, Beijing, Poland, and Hong Kong, and I’ve collaborated with different international brands, events and organisations and do various art commissions.

What do think about the future of NFTs?

Many traditional art investors have moved away from buying physical art pieces to buying NFTs which is a type of digital currency used to represent photos, videos and so on. They can cost hundreds of thousands! It’s attracted celebrities like Jay-Z and even Christie’s has started selling them!

Have you visited the State Theatre before? Wonder how it will look when it reopens in 2026!

The cinema was originally built in the 1950s but has been partially derelict for a number of years. New World Development has recently taken over redevelopment under leadership of Adrien Cheng, most famous for his combining Art and development through his K11 malls.

World-famous robot Sophia will also be making a special appearance this weekend at The Catalyst in Sheung Wan where she will be reciting poems and doing a special water calligraphy performance!
