Good morning,

Merry Christmas Eve to everyone who celebrates Christmas. We’ll still be with you over the Christmas weekend, so if you get super bored….read Tide. But you shouldn’t really be bored with all the cool Christmas Events you’re going to find out about today.

Oh yeah, as a very late Christmas gift - I’m going give everyone a month of Paid Tide for free (also as an apology for the short Tide today)

A donation is welcome but y’know….spirit of Christmas and all that.

[Sorry this is emailed out late … hope everyone enjoyed Jasmine’s lovely virtual Christmas greeting]

~ Cyril

(Leg)Co-working

'Non-establishment’ laywer Tik Chik-Yuen has called out government plans to have 1/2 of incumbent lawmakers work at CITIC tower in a coworking style unless better office space can be found.

The increase of lawmakers from 70 to 90 meant that the current Legco building is unable to hold them, and renovations have to be done. In the meantime, 45 legco members will work from CITIC tower, which has been refurbished as a coworking space with open borders, easy travel and maybe even free coffee.

However, while Tik argued that there’s not enough privacy, Andrew Leung, previous head of the house, said that CITIC is the best the government can do and that they can move furniture around until there’s privacy.

Coronavirus in Hong Kong

  • New cases: 1

Omicron hinted in Tuen Mun Cleaner - sparks lockdown.

A 64 year old toilet cleaner at the airport is suspected of having Omicron. Although results aren’t back yet, where she lives in Tuen Mun is under lock down till tomorrow.

Vaccines and Boosters

Two research groups in Hong Kong have found that the BioNTech booster shots are useful against Omicron. That sounds fine to me. That’s my one!

Special Holiday Transport Arrangements

Don’t say we don’t help you for ‘normal’ stuff, here’s what’s happening in the next two days for various socialising hotposts.

  • MTR: No overnight service on Christmas Eve (tonight), increased service 25-27th

  • Bus: increased service on some bus lines. Each working independently. ‘N’ busses will remain normal if not better (for the drunk in you!)

  • Trams/Others: Central - MidLevels escalator will increase service to 1am starting tonight!
