LoTW: Founder of Women of Hong Kong, Sarah Vee
I am Sarah Vee, Founder of Women of Hong Kong - a holistic platform to empower women and connect female changemakers with each other and a Filipina single-mother born and raised in Hong Kong.
I come from an Entertainment Events, PR, and Digital Marketing background. What inspired my switch from marketing and nightlife, to humanising a communtiy of social networks into a real community, was the realisation that we forget how, behind the social media accounts and mobile phones, we are still people with real worries in day-to-day life.
The idea for “Women of Hong Kong” was born in 2014, when we created a network called "Girls of Hong Kong”, a tight-knit community that provided a safe space for women with networking and support through social events and common beliefs. By 2019, the “Girls of Hong Kong” grew to over 3000 members with over 200 active daily contributors on a social platform app.
This year, my business partner Jessie Drew and I expanded the original Facebook group into the “Women of Hong Kong”, a membership digital platform that revolutionises the lives of our women members.
Joining the platform is free but a paid plan lets you access more tailored and exclusive services such as panel talks, discounts to events and job postings. Find out more.
Whether you are a parent, an entrepreneur, or executive, Women of Hong Kong will be the bridge that brings women together with a common belief that we are stronger together—and that it doesn’t have to be lonely at the top.
Women are revolutionising the world, and this network will pave the way! Through our events, courses and conversations, Women of Hong Kong will challenge women to reach their highest potential and step into their power in every aspect of their lives: physically, emotionally and professionally.
Sarah’s Helpful Headlines
Reimagining how women connect to each other: More empathy, less competition. Let’s break down old stereotypes and make our own rules! Through awareness and empathy, we engage with compassion. Open your heart and mind, remember that each of us are on our own path of growth.
Being a single mom myself I could relate to Sarah’s story. There’s a lot of social stigma with single parents, and not much support for non-traditional family units in Hong Kong. Sarah Keates reminds us that in order to look after other people, we have to look after ourselves first. Take care of your mental and physical health, then you’ll be able to care for those you love.

It can be overwhelming and daunting starting a new job, launch a new business, try something new or simply make new friends. We make it easier by bringing women together in one space, connecting their interests and opening doors for each other. If you believe in your creation we have an audience for you.
All women should know THIS when it comes to making money: Mel Robbins
“Whenever someone asks me to speak, I’ll pause and count down 5 4 3 2 1 […] normally I’m double”. I love the way she puts across how, as women, we need to understand our value and not underprice ourselves.
