Coronavirus in Hong Kong

  • New cases: 1 (all imported)

  • Total cases: 11,849 cases so far (67 active cases, 210 total deaths, 11,572 total recovered)

Civil servants will be getting two whole days of paid leave if they get their vaccination done. The government is really pushing to up the city’s inoculation rate (paywalled), encouraging other employers to do the same.

From today going forward, those returning to HK from Macau or the Mainland will have to take more tests. Vaccinated people will have to do three tests now, those who are unvaccinated will have to do two.

So it’s 4 June tomorrow…

Only three days after reopening, the 4 June Museum with an exhibit on the Tiananmen Square Massacre has shut down. The museum was suspected of operating without a proper license.

Police will have 3,000 officers at the ready tomorrow in case of any unauthorised gatherings. Officers will reportedly conduct stop and searches around the Victoria Park area (paywalled), where the candlelight vigil was held in previous years.
