🌊 Foodpanda Fight

Good morning.

Have any of our readers quarantined for 21 days? I’ve quarantined for 14 and honestly didn’t mind, but I think 21 in a tiny HK hotel room would be too much, even for me.

If you’ve done 21 days of solitude, let me know. I’d love to hear about the experience.

This definitely isn’t how any of the crew hoped to send the rest of the month (and some).

After the three of Cathay Pacific’s cargo aircrew tested positive for COVID-19, the airline announced that its crew who stayed in Frankfurt since 1 November will be quarantined in a HK government facility for 21 days.

Cathay’s official statement:

"We will fully comply with the health authorities’ requirement that any aircrew who had stayed in Frankfurt since November 1 need to be quarantined for 21 days in a government facility.”

A separate hotel has been arranged for crew i. Frankfurt, and Cathay has decided to suspend layovers in the German city as soon as possible. Daily testing will also continue for its staff.

A group of Foodpanda delivery drivers continued their strike yesterday for its second day in a row to protest cut delivery fees.

What are they striking against?

Delivery fees have gone down starting from $10 since January this year, depending on the mode of delivery the staff member takes (car, bike, walking).

What are staff saying?

One Foodpanda staff member said their pay had gone down 30% since the advent of the delivery fee cuts. A dozen workers gathered outside of an office in Tinhau demanding communication with Foodpanda on the matter.

What is Foodpanda saying?

Foodpanda has admitted that communication with its workers could be better, but said that the drop of fees didn’t necessarily mean earnings would decrease. The company said that it would meet with staff this week to work on the issue.
