Temperatures dipped to 8 degrees Celsius yesterday, the coldest on record since 8 January last year. Stay strong folks, it’s meant to warm up by the middle of the week.
This frigid weather is, according to the Observatory, due to the winter monsoon that has hit the coast of Guangdong. Monday and Tuesday will continue to be rainy, but as I just said, the weather will be warmer again with temperatures going up to 21 degrees by the week’s end.
COVID may have sexual consequences

Results from a study by the University of Hong Kong suggests that COVID can harm the testicles, lower sex drive, and decrease fertility. Keep in mind that these studies were done on hamsters, so don’t take the findings to heart, but since I was seeing this headline everywhere I reckon it’s worth letting you all know to not be too worried, for now.
The government has released new conditions for COVID-19 patients who are in isolation, prioritising urgent/more serious cases for hospital care and sending milder cases to community isolation facilities.
Wong Kam-sing, the Environment Secretary, will be in at-home quarantine as his driver tested positive for COVID-19 yesterday. So far, Wong’s rapid test has come out negative.
Lockdown updates:
Ying Yat House in Tung Chung has been put into lockdown due to sewage samples that tested positive for COVID-19.
168 preliminary COVID cases were found in Shek Kip Mei Estate in Shek Kip Mei after a two-day lockdown that began on Friday.
Lockdown in Pok Tat House in Sha Tin was extended when 94 cases were found after a Saturday night lockdown.
Compulsory testing is required for 21 specified places (see Annex for details).

Recovery, Resilience, Resurgence: Asia Soc HK

“This exhibition’s photos show Hong Kong during consecutive periods, as it was seen around the middle of the last century. The images span some thirty years of great change: from the postwar recovery in 1946 – 1947, through the resilience of the 1950s, to the resurgence of the 1960s – 1970s. The photos were taken by three photographers. In the order of their Hong Kong work they were: Hedda Morrison, Lee Fook Chee and Brian Brake. Each had markedly different life backgrounds and photographic objectives.”
