Doxxing arrest is a first under new law
Hong Kong’s Privacy Commissioner for Personal Data (PCPD) have made their first arrest for a “suspected doxxing offence” under a new ordinance fighting against doxxing acts that threaten personal data privacy. The incident involves a 31-year-old Chinese man in the West Kowloon region, who “[disclosed] personal data without consent” in a dispute over money.
The new law, Personal Data (Privacy) (Amendment) Ordinance 2021 (Amendment Ordinance), was enacted on 8 October this year and covers a breadth of doxxing offences that were not protected by Hong Kong legislation prior.
Considering that the suspected crime he committed was in violation of an offence under section 64(3A), he can face a fine of $100,000 and a 2-year prison sentence if convicted.
Two more Omicron cases land in Hong Kong

Two more cases of the Omicron mutation were confirmed in Hong Kong on Monday, from a man and a woman who travelled in from the UK. Both of them are fully vaccinated.
Other COVID-19 updates:
Corporations have until this Friday (17 December) to pre-register for a quarantine-free travel scheme between Hong Kong and the mainland.
Protect sex workers, wear a mask during prostitute visits, the Hong Kong Aids Foundation encourages.
A compulsory testing notice has been gazetted for 16 specified premises (see Annex 1 for the locations).
