🌊 COVID makes your balls small

Good morning,

As the Managing Ed-In-Chief, I’m responsible for quality control - a task which I sometimes actually do. That includes writing, material, partnerships and of course, our events.

On Saturday, I went to the Deadman IGA launch not because I wanted to get drunk, but because I felt it was important to make sure what we advertise is actually cool and good (and high in alcohol content). Yesterday, I did the hot wings challenge.

The wings are good. Can personally recommend.

My everything hurts now though. My intestines have been in a twist for 12 hours; the capsicum has burnt through my spine. I’m delirious. My butt is …….

Let’s end it there.

HT Original: How John Lee got here and where he’s headed

Every other publication has a John Lee article. We felt kinda left out so we did one. Sincerely hope it’s detailed and good so that you, our dear readers (look at me copying Charlotte), can get everything you need from one article.

  • More John Lee: He who must visit grassroot families

CE hopeful visited two low income, underprivileged households in Yau Ma Tei yesterday - a single parent family, and an elderly member of another household. Both homes were partitioned flats.

The poor people told John that their aside from their income, their living conditions were also poor. Lee said that he would try and improve Hong Kong’s housing situation ASAP, saying it’s the “key to solving many other issues”.

  • Press Freedom does not need to be protected

Separately when asked about protecting press freedom as part of his campaign, Lee said that it does not need to be protected because “it already exists” and is protected by the basic law.

Coronavirus in Hong Kong

  • New cases: 429 (19 imported)

  • Total cases: 1,201,860

  • New deaths: 13 (2 backlogged)

  • Total deaths: 9249

Community isolation facility to housing

Ever look at a COVID isolation ward and be like, “hey this seems like a really nice apartment, I’d love to bring my family here!”

Well that could soon be a reality because Secretary for Development, Michael Wong said yesterday that “When the epidemic situation has subsided, part of the facilities may have the potential to be turned into transitional housing”.

COVID makes your balls shrink

Urologist Trevor Li was approached by a patient in his early 20s complaining about his balls being smaller, and an “obvious worsened […] sexual ability”. The man had no “bad habits or additions”.

The likely culprit? COVID - HKU had recently found out that, yes, your balls can shrink after COVID. And overseas studies have shown a relationship between testicular issues and COVID in about 10-20% of male patients. Around 1/4 of patients also find their sperm count being greatly impacted in months following infection: a symptom of long COVID.

Dr. Li’s patient is still being treated. He has other issues apart from COVID in his bloodstream, but COVID still seems to be the most likely reason….

“Pay for your own tests!” Macau Authorities or something

Want to visit Hong Kong’s sister city of sin? Don’t be in a rush and carry an extra big wallet (even bigger than your usual Macanese weekend) because authorities confirmed Sunday that visitors need to pay $2000MOP for 8 PCR tests. This is in addition to the existing need to pay for 14 days at a quarantine hotel, similar to Hong Kong’s requirements.
