Crime
Warning: Graphic image depicting a failed attempt to reattach an ear below.
A 52-year-old man has gotten a 14 year and six-month prison sentence for biting off the left ear of Andrew Chiu, a former district councillor, stabbing another man with a knife, and injuring two others during anti-government protests in November 2019.
An attempt to reattach Chiu’s ear failed, as shown in the below image.

Cinemas bounce back without pop and popcorn

Coronavirus in Hong Kong
New cases: 600
11 imported
320 detected by PCR tests, 280 by RATs
Testing is required for people who were present at 40 specified locations.
Lockdown update: Seven positive cases were found in Sheung Shui’s Ching Chak House overnight.
The government launched a new QR code for people who have recovered from the virus, making them exempt from the vaccine bubble for six months once they’ve recovered.
Bookings are now open for Hong Kong’s at-home vaccination services for people who are elderly and disabled.
Three cinema companies in Hong Kong will not be serving food or beverages once they reopen tomorrow (personally, I sneak in all my cinema snacks).
Three people have been arrested for allegedly faking positive rapid COVID-19 tests to the government’s online platform to get some sick time off work.
City University researchers have designed a special shield that can be used over a bed to reduce cross-infection, with the intention to use them in elderly care homes.
Kinder chocolates hold dangerous surprise
Kinder has made a massive recall on a chocolate product that was imported into Hong Kong due to a possibility of salmonella contamination. The chocolate batch in question is the Happy Moments mini mix with best-before dates of 7 and 8 July. This is the fifth product by the Belgian company to be recalled.
