Good morning.

I actually did end up going to Open Couple on Saturday and will (actually) go to other events we advertise so (if it doesn't feel like conflict of interest which it's uh ….. not …. As far as I'm concerned anyway) let us know if you want us to help out.

What does John Lee Want to do again?

John Lee will be inaugurated in July as Chief Executive (6 weeks according to Charlotte's calendar, but I'll probably be out of town soooo). You, as the ever politically wary reader, am probably worried.

That’s why I forced our unpaid interns to read John Lee’s 44 page manifesto and come up with a great summary.

You’re welcome.

With only 6 weeks, 2 days, 16 hours and 2 minutes to go until #johnlee becomes #CE (according to our CE Day timer), we got @EscuetaCarlos to read the entire 44 page manifesto and come up with an explainer: bit.ly/3Mo74CE

Cancelling telegram???

The Privacy Commissioner is moving towards banning Telegram, an app that allows anonymous messaging, due to political doxxing related to its usage. While those in favour argue that it will help the HKSAR gov ensure national security, everyone who is not literally that reminds us that banning Telegram would be the first time the gov has acted to ban a method of communication.

Hong Kong privacy commissioner looking into blocking Telegram because of hundreds of doxxing cases per week and inconsistent cooperation from the platform to remove. If they can ban TG they can ban any app. 群組每周發200起底訊息 私隱署研「封鎖」Telegram hd.stheadline.com/amp/news/realt…

Even Russia was unable to ban it because they realized that Telegram’s backend channels are related to much more innocent posts. To ban one would likely mean banning both (said Mr. Putin with bated breath).
